Next week we will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week, highlighting the importance of living a drug-free life. Feel free to have your child participate in any or all of the dress attire.
The Laredo Independent School District Board of Trustees dedicated the Milton Elementary School Library during a ceremony this morning. The library was named in memory of the late Anna Laura Herrera-Garza, the school’s librarian from 1993 to 2023.
The Herrera-Garza family, close friends, and former colleagues gathered to honor her life and the naming of this facility. LISD Board of President Monica Garcia, LISD Board Secretary Dr. Gil Martinez, and LISD Superintendent Dr. Sylvia Rios addressed the audience.
Each year, October is recognized worldwide as Dyslexia Awareness Month, a time to come together to raise awareness, share resources, and tell stories about dyslexia successes. Help Laredo ISD spread awareness!
Laredo Independent School District campuses will be closed Monday, October 9, for staff development training. LISD administration, faculty, and staff will report to work on Monday morning for their required staff development.

have partnered for education!
Every month at every campus, students with Perfect Attendance will be entered into a raffle for the selection of that month’s Burger King Queen and King for attendance!
Each King and Queen will be crowned and will receive a Family Pack which includes two Whopper Meals and two Kid’s Meals.
Laredo Independent School District proclaimed September as Attendance Awareness Month during a ceremony on Monday morning. The proclamation was conducted in the foyer of the LISD Performing Arts Complex Auditorium.
Students, campus principals, assistant principals, attendance officers, and administrators filled the foyer in support of daily student attendance.
LISD Board of Trustees Vice President Rick Garza and Superintendent Dr. Sylvia G. Rios took turns reading the proclamation.
